We are pleased to announce a new ballet class: Form and Function: The fundamentals of Ballet Technique taught by Darien resident, Michele Elliman, a professional dancer, choreographer and experienced teacher. Ms.Elliman has served on the dance faculty of Long Island University, NYU’s BFA program and Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, among others. She was a featured soloist with Nina Wiener’s Dance Company and Creation Company and founded the NYC based dance company, Neo Labos, touring nationally and internationally. Recent credits include choreography for the 2013 Shakespeare on the Sound’s production of “As You Like It”, and choreography for last year’s Oscar nominated documentary “Wise Women Speak”. Since moving to Connecticut, Ms. Elliman has taken pleasure in bringing her professional experience to others discovering movement : both locally in the dance department of area schools, such as Greenwich Academy, to yoga studios, such as Elements, and as a certified Pilates teacher, to her studio, Project Align.
This ballet class will be structured for the novice with an emphasis on movement quality and healthy alignment in a fun, supportive learning environment. One hour classes will start on Tuesday, February 25th at 11:30am and run for a 6 week session. Cost: $120.
