“CLARA’S DREAM” – Excerpts from the Nutcracker

Please come enjoy our 3rd annual  family friendly holiday tradition, the Nutcracker on Sunday, December 11th at 2pm at Darien High School.

The abbreviated but complete version of the Nutcracker is approximately 50 minutes and is appropriate for a younger audience. The production features students of the Darien School of Dance and is complete with professional lighting, sound, costumes and sets.

Public:

General admission tickets ($20) go on sale the week of Dec 5th in the YWCA lobby during the times of classes being held. Tickets will also be available Show Day, Dec 11th at the door starting at 1pm. Doors open at 1:30pm.

We will have a FREE photo opportunity with a Snow Flake Ballerina in the lobby prior to the performance.

Performers Information

Mandatory Dress Rehearsal: Sat, Dec 10th 12 sharp to 4pm at Darien High School. This is not a drop off rehearsal. Parents will need to be with their dancer or have another parent responsible for their child during this rehearsal. Please do not bring younger siblings as running around the auditorium is not allowed and full concentration is needed by staff to produce the show.

Please eat a hearty breakfast as there is no food allowed inside Darien High Auditorium. Please bring water and snacks which must be consumed in the lobby or in the dressing area. No juice boxes and no eating is allowed in costume.

Dancers are to arrive wearing pink tights and comfortable sweat pants and zip down sweat jacket with hair in bun. Please bring clean pink ballet slippers labeled with name. Students will be given costumes to change into and it would be helpful to have their personal items/clothing labeled so it is easy to identify and find after rehearsal and show.

A Parent Helper will be helping your child change into costume in the dressing area and then the children will be allowed to watch some of the show as it will be a stop and start sort of procedure.  There will be plenty of time for parents to take photos and video during dress rehearsal. Dancers may be dismissed if the rehearsal ends before 4pm.

Show Day: Sunday, December 11th. Dancers will arrive at Darien High at 1pm for a 2pm performance. We will be doing an abbreviated version of the Nutcracker and will be very child friendly. Performance time will be less than 1 hour.

Parent Helpers: are needed to assist with Dress Rehearsal and Show Day. Parent Helpers will take attendance and help with costume changes in dressing area but will be in audience for the show. Dancers will be supervised by staff during show time. Children love when their parents volunteer. Please email Mrs. Fulton if you can help out.

Parent Helper Committee: Parent helpers are integral for a successful production. Please email Mrs. Fulton if you would like to head up this committee and or would like to sign up for helping with: costumes/sewing; supervision during rehearsals; program planning; set and stage design; dancer supervision showtime; front lobby check in; or any talents/skills that you would like to share.

Tickets ($20 for adults/children) are available to Darien School of Dance students and the general public as of December 5th in the YW lobby during class times that week: https://www.darienschoolofdance.com/schedule/. Tickets will also be available during dress rehearsal – Saturday, December 10th 12-4pm and prior to show, Sunday December 11th at 1pm both at Darien High School.

Please email Brigita Fulton for more information at dariendance@optimum.net.
