Policies

Dress Code: Dance attire for Mom & Me, Pre-Ballet, Kinder-ballet and Grade 1 and 2 ballet is pink leather ballet slippers, pink footed tights and pink leotard with attached skirt. Dancers 7 years up may wear any color leotard with pink tights and pink ballet slippers. Mom & Me do not have to strictly follow the dress code. For Combo Tap classes, students will also need black Mary Jane Tap shoes (no tyettes) that have velcro or buckle. For Combo Jazz/hip hop classes, students will also need tan slip on jazz shoes. Please no jewelry, leg warmers or tutus. Hair must be pulled back away from face into a bun or ponytail. Short hair can be pulled back with a stretchy head band.

You may purchase dance attire from a dance store of your choice or we also sell leotards, tights, ballet slippers and tap shoes. Please view our Dance Attire Order Form.

Attendance: It is very important to have dancers arrive on time for class. Children should not be left unattended in the lobby, restroom or hallway.

Please remind your dancer to use the restroom before class.

Street clothes and shoes should be left in the dressing area. Please do not allow your child to wear her ballet slippers outside. This tracks in dirt into the studio, wears out the ballet slippers faster and overall is not safe for outside use.

Dancers will be dismissed from class when the teacher sees a parent or caregiver in the hallway. We do not allow children to leave the studio to look for their parents in the lobby or outside.

Make up classes: Make up classes are available to children who miss class due to illness. If you know your child will miss class, please email Mrs. Fulton as we like to plan the class accordingly. She will advise on a time for a make up class.

Registration/Waiver Forms: Please make sure that Registration/Waiver forms are filled out completely. A registration form completed with payment secures a spot in class.

Recital Spring Showcase: Our students will have the opportunity to perform in a professional theater at Darien High School Sunday, May 21, 2017 (tentative date). We will have two shows at 1pm and 3:30pm. All students will perform in one show except for the Saturday Combo class who will perform in both.

*  A Mandatory Dress Rehearsal will be held on Friday, May 19th at 4pm and Saturday, May 20th at 10am (tentative dates and times). Siblings are not guaranteed to be in the same show though we do our absolute best to accommodate everyone.

* Costumes: Costumes need to be ordered 3 months in advance and students will be measured the week of January 9, 2017. Costumes are $75 and Combo costumes are $90. Payment for costumes are due the week of January 16th. We measure students and order according to the costume catalogs’s size charts taking into account growth factor. On occasion a costume may not fit perfectly or to the parents liking and it will be the parent’s responsibility for any alterations.

* Tickets: Tickets are sold to the showcase to offset the cost of putting on the production, ie: theater rental, lighting and sound crew, union custodial fees, props, sets, fire warden, police/parking attendants, security, etc.

Communication: Please add dariendance@optimum.net to your address book so that there are no problems with missed emails. Also, please like us on Facebook where we will post up to date announcements.

If Darien Public schools are closed due to weather, then so are we. Facebook updates and email blasts will be sent out for any cancellations, early closures or late entrances. Also check the bulletin board outside the dance studio for updates on upcoming events.
